Learn French in Martinique

Study French in Martinique, the beautiful French island lying in the Lesser Antilles, between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

Known for its miles of incredible sandy beaches, turquoise waters and beautiful landscapes, Martinique is a paradise for nature lovers. The island is volcanic in origin, with the impressive Mount Pelée being one of the island’s most distinctive geographical features. Trekking to the crater is a popular activity, giving you the unique experience to visit an active volcano and to have a wonderful panoramic view of the island. For those who love water sports, there are plenty of opportunities for snorkeling, surfing and scuba diving.

The island is politically part of France and the official language is French. As a result, the island has developed its own unique culture combining French and Caribbean influences. The cuisine, for example, mixes elements of African, French, Caribbean and South Asian traditions. One of Martinique’s most famous dishes, Colombo, is a curry whose sauce combines wine, coconut milk, masala, tapioca and rum. The native inhabitants also speak Creole, a language combining French, English and African dialects.
